Arabia and Iittala: Classic Finnish Designs
These designs have become one of the most iconic representations of Finnish classics.
Iittala's series Taika is a result of the merging of elaborate designs by Klaus Haapaniemi and functional shapes by Heikki Orvola. Translated from Finnish, Taika refers to magic, which resounds in the unusually coloured motifs, inspired by nature and fairy tales.
Tanssi (meaning dance), a series also created by Haapaniemi, was inspired by his stage designs for a Czech opera
production called The Cunning Little Vixen. The fabled creatures, melody and movement - all seems to come to life.
The brightly coloured Moomin series from Arabia has been attracting the attention of children and adults alike ever since 1950s. As these Tove Jansson's characters are known and loved worldwide, this series have become very popular as souvenirs as well as additions to the homes of locals. Find your favourite character!
